New Welsh Review 80, Summer 2008
Editorial:
Back to the Present (Francesca Rhydderch)
The photographs by Tina Carr and Annemarie Schöne that feature in this issue of New Welsh Review serve as a stark reminder of how the present becomes past, and of what happens if those of us who are in one way or another keepers of our histories abandon the notion of posterity. The images published here are drawn from a larger series, which has been exhibited in London and Wales; they include a variety of domestic interiors and exteriors, and an extensive series of chapel
images. What is compelling about them is the beating heart underneath the ‘still lives’ that you first assume them to be.
