POEM Amy Wack

NWR Issue 116

Nude in a Roomscape

You think you’ve grown used to her
but you can never quite be sure.

In different lights, she’s different things.
Sometimes she arrives, blatant

as morning, at others she is leaving,
leaning back into shades and dusks.

This painter understands
the body and its shifting densities:

Amy Wack is from California but has lived in Wales since 1988. She has an MFA in Poetry from Columbia University in New York and has worked as the poetry editor at Seren books since the early nineties. She co-edited (with Eva Salzman) the popular anthology, Women's Work: New Poetry in English by Women (Seren).

Paul Edwards graduated from Newport College of Art and the Slade Schools. He worked for many years as a senior lecturer in Fine Art at Lincoln University. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited in Wales, Ireland, London, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Germany and elsewhere. He is co-curator of Imagistic: Flash Fiction, a member of the Welsh Group and works from his studio in Cardiff. pauledwardsartist.com
