Translations from the Narwhal

World, you are so fluid, and beauty is
fluidity — the sun’s bright tusks point out
abundance in bay mud, in sediment
surface — the best clicks, the knocks,
the most eloquent whistles speak
of halibut skies

Annette C Boehm is the author of The Knowledge Weapon (2016) and Five Parts of Love: Confabulating Sappho (2012). Her poems have appeared in journals across the USA and UK, including New Welsh Review, The Pedestal, Paper and Ink, elimae, Journal of Compressed Creative Arts, Lunch Ticket, and Under the Radar. She serves as poetry reader for Memorious, and was a Howard Nemerov Scholar at the 2017 Sewanee Writers’ Conference.
