Like a Breaking of Waters

John White was born and raised in County Derry and now lives in Oxfordshire. He has been published in two anthologies: Oxford Poets 2007 (Carcanet Press, ed Bernard O’Donoghue & David Constantine), and more recently Initiate (Blackwell’s/Oxford University), featuring graduates of the Oxford Master’s Degree in Creative Writing, where he gained a distinction. His poems have also appeared in magazines such as Agenda, Poetry Ireland Review and Oxford magazines. He was a winner in the 2010 Parallel Universe Poetry Competition run by the Radcliffe Science Library at Oxford University, where entries were on a scientific or medical theme.
